High Tide

What is this? What do you know about what this is? When you run... where do you have to go when you run? Asking a question in stereo makes it much harder to hide you look like you fell off the back of a truck with a talent for heartless goodbyes. There's so much confusion there is so much fucking noise, you can try to tune it out, but then you don't have a choice. Look at me, do you see any conspiracy, was I framed on the very day I was named? Tell me that something's impossible, I already know that's a lie, you look like you snuck on the ice cream man's truck and ate all of my favorite kinds. There's so much confusion... Give me some, of your fake equilibrium, can I ask how long you've had to wear that mask? Tell me that nothing's impossible, I already know that's a lie...

Walking home in the dark City waking Creeping cars at the red light footfall sounds like my heart Beating softly notions of happiness a naked eye entering my sight but you don't know me yet and i don't know if we ever will unravel the secrets and promises that warrant a lifetime until i know your number, i know your name it's only suspicion and merely a game that's got my attention you've got my attention you carve the turkey so well my father loves you you send me flowers when you're away i've grown so much alongside you and you are glad our paths coincided decided to stay

Tinkerbell 03:59
In the middle of the room in the last place you would look there's a riddle of a girl with her nose stuck in a book she wants to learn about the world see it for herself but they'll never let her out and they say it's for her health she's afraid to speak too loud afraid that she'll be heard afraid to eat too much she only wants to be a bird but every time she tries to fly she falls back to the earth she'd be a million miles away if she had the nerve clap your hands for the girl she's gonna need all the help she can get in the middle of the day she got picked up in a car traded one town for the next her mother's eyes for his guitar but the road can do so much the night can get so cold she was offered something new but she'd have to do what she was told so she learned to say her prayers learned to be polite learned to dress the part but she still could never sleep at night what she never told a soul is that she did it to survive but inside that costume is she still alive? clap your hands for the girl she's gonna need all the help she can get just a little bit of love and affection just a little bit of old fashioned luck and she'll be inside the tv in the middle of the night when you're crying in your sleep choking on your fright and the promises you have to keep think back a little while what was that promise that you made? to get out of that room oh, what was that price you paid? now you're afraid to close your eyes afraid of what you'll see behind this great disguise just a faded memory and the last you'll understand as the pieces fade to grey there's just no way to live without trading the past away so clap your hands for the world it's gonna need all the help it can get.

What happens to the song no one hears will it come back again in a few hundred years they try to counter your fears as the song passes by silently in the night what will happen to the song no one hears will it echo in pieces, be sung by the steers will we recognize that something was lost when we base what we love on a profit and cost the song knows that it won't be heard (it won't, it won't the song will not be heard) some say it chose not to be heard (does not, does not, does not want to be heard) there are those who know it's absurd it got tired of trying to be someone's sign Everybody's waiting to be told what to do by a bionic hero with a gigantic show everybody's waiting for a little birdie to recover the myriad treasures of youth everybody's got their heart locked in a box where they keep their favorite cartoon everybody's waiting for the one with the key with a smile for a mile and the style to beguile *chorus* Everybody likes the same things everybody looks the same everybody likes who they are everybody's clean and sane everybody walks to the beat that they hear in their heart everybody can't wait to finish so the next one can start everybody believes in god everybody's scared of hell everybody wears the same scar from that one time we fell everybody thinks this is fun everybody thinks this is dumb everybody thinks this is fun precisely because it's so dumb *chorus*

Eggshells 03:17
I've been walking on eggshells since you came along with your wild eyes with my feet on the ground I still need to stay strong just to stand up to you you with your wild eyes and you with your cold stare you with the night on your side in the cold air I could fight with myself all night over you... is your heart alive and is it beating true? I've been clicking my heels and wishing on a star I could get back home but am I spinning my wheels in an overturned car I check my blindside for signs... Signs that I'm not going crazy, and that I'm not just too damn lazy to go... I could fight with myself all night over you... is your heart alive and is it beating true? Give me something to fight for cause something's not right, while you're tossing and turning I'm still flossing and yearning Am I playing a game, can you tell me the same, once my heart was on fire, now I feel like a Liar cause... I could fight with myself all night over you... is your heart alive and is it beating true?

Intro 03:45
We didn't see it coming 2x If we had seen it coming surely we would have taken a stand you have no right to judge us 2x No man alive can judge us no one but himself can judge a man. The sky was grey and cloudy 2x bright blue the day before those bots destroyed the hand from which they fed I used to be somebody 2x Oh god the fall was bloody now we wait but we don't understand The long road the long road the long road never ends And if I tell you my darkest story will you take it from me then. My heart is bound and breaking eternal torment aching a hell of our own making I died years ago but it won't end I had a home and baby 2x all gone ahead to hades but the devil still won't take my hand.

The devil's got me in his grip eyes so wide no one can deceive him the devil's got me in his grip teeth so sharp like a hundred needles he found me on this sinking ship on my knees praying for a way out you've heard this story haven't you? how will it end, and are the stories all true? Dig deep, dig deep there is trouble in the company i keep my feet, my feet, they won't carry me home, the rivers too deep. If I could I'd go on a trip to the sea swim the finest waters but the devil won't let go of me and what's more he's sworn to take my daughter I'm meek, too meek to commandeer the solace I seek don't weep don't weep can we threaten the cage if we know that we're free? On his way to work one day a man got swallowed up never had he stopped to see the flowers growing up through a gash that opened up the ground swallowed him whole he thought about his family he thought about his soul he found himself inside a cage with others looking on he didn't say a word for days his happiness was gone his happiness was gone Then someone came near to him with horns upon his head i will relate this story to you tell you what he said tell you what he said Did you see me I waved hello You look like somebody I used to know I can tell that you feel out of place On the outskirts of the human race And it was never my plan to hold you hear We don't deal in currency we deal in fear call me names it won't do you no good You're being charged with living a life of wood No one ever told this man that he had not done right He never got in trouble, never got into a fight But now that he had found himself inside the gates of hell He tried to genuflect but what his sin was they would not tell One day in a fit of rage the devil glared at him "You bastards get a sea of chance" he said "but you won't swim I'll send you back if you will take this message home with you Figure out what it is that you're supposed to do, figure out who. Step right up and turn it around There is something for everyone in this town I was lost got buried deep underground Found a tunnel and I followed the sound. I pushed this boulder up that hill But it won't go up the other side I see the image burning still The smoke tells me that all that's real has died Dig deep, dig deep there is trouble in the company i keep my feet, my feet, they won't carry me home, the rivers too deep. I'm meek, too meek to commandeer the solace I seek don't weep don't weep can we threaten the cage if we know that we're free?

When I first saw you it was summer At our friend's party by the beach You had somebody then, you were out of reach We kept in touch over the autumn, You were still with her, I was still with me feelings I had for you, gotta let em be. Baby I'm falling, baby I'm falling, baby I'm falling now Winter came on too soon as it often seems And in a sudden twist I started living out my dreams and I knew that It was all worth waiting for We had a couple months of heaven couple months of hell couple months of learning what got broken when we fell but I knew that I could never give you up. Baby I'm falling, baby I'm falling, baby I'm falling now It seems like we're stalling, why can't we stop brawling? cause baby I"m falling now. But spring arrived and saved us like it always can. open up our eyes to see a woman and a man and we knew that the seasons can't hurt us no more. As life is waking up around us, we're only starting on the ride I'll hold your hand as we step into the tide. Baby I'm falling, baby I'm falling, baby I'm falling now If you should come calling I'd give you my all, cause baby I'm falling now.

Oh Children will play and get carried away jumping and laughing and kicking the elders observe this disruptive display these spirits in need of a licking We've seen it all and we know how it ends the 17 year is a doozy each child takes a test to determine their fate It's the rest of your life without choosing so count down the days till you're dead count down the days till you're dead life will be fine if we end it on time just count down the days till you're dead You work all your life for the robots They don't even ask you your name You get what they throw what you eat you don't know but you must choke it down all the same If you think that that sounds depressing You're lucky you know what it means whether happy or sad every feeling you've had you've had cause you're man not machine so count down the days till you're dead count down the days till you're dead life will be fine if we end it on time just count down the days till you're dead
